The project will contribute to the development of climate-positive concrete, which binds more carbon than the carbon dioxide emissions that the product emits. We will develop concrete products as a place for a carbon sink by mixing in biochar while at the same time replacing less environmentally sustainable ballast materials. In the project the biochar that is used is produced from organic residues, with the aim of using biochar of other types than what is currently requested for soil application. With the project, we want to take the first step in Sweden, including biochar in different concrete products.

Budget and time plan
The project’s total budget is 964 000 SEK and the projects runs during six months – between December 2021 and June 2022.
