Improved sawing – step 1

The project ran between October 2019 and April 2020.

The purpose of the project was to lay the foundation for more resource efficient utilization of sawlogs. Doing so would increase the competitiveness of sawmills and support the positive climate effects of substituting more C02 intense products with wood products in durable applications. The project has been successful as it exceeded set targets by generating first generation optimization algorithms, presented concrete production set-up solutions and identified areas in need of further research.

Participants

Sveaskog, LSAB, Modig Machine Tools, Uppsala Universitet, Luleå Tekniska Universitet and RISE.

Budget

The project’s budget was 1 000 000 SEK.
