The project ran between October 2024 and February 2025.
The pulp and paper industry is important for Sweden’s development, especially considering the transformation that the entire society needs to make. The EFP programme is a long-term investment (at least five years) that could give Sweden (and Finland through their cooperation) a platform for future process research in the field of wood fibre production. If the EFP program can initiate opportunities that in the long run lead to the creation of new processes with higher total yield and minimal emissions of carbon dioxide for the production of wood fiber, it means new sustainable opportunities for the Swedish and Finnish forest industries; new product and by-product flows, lower carbon dioxide emissions and thus better use of forests.
This project has contributed to organizing and preparing for the Swedish process research within the area of the EFP program.
