Evaluation of new, cellulose-based “EPS” in the paper & board recycle stream – step 1

Category: Hypothesis testing projects

Picture from the project.

The tech start-up Cellofibers Sweden AB develop a cellulose-based product that can drop-in replace EPS in foam-molding of packaging material. The development is conducted in close cooperation with Lindepac, the largest producer of foam-molded EPS in Sweden. The ambition is that producers of foam-molded EPS around the world will switch to producing cellulose-based foam-molded packaging material that can be recycled in the paper & board recycle stream.

This project will evaluate the new material in the paper & board recycle stream, together with experts in the field. Cellofibers Sweden will, together with Lindepac, evaluate the material circularity in a short but efficient project. Fiskeby Board will be consulted for the actual evaluation of the recyclability.

Budget & time plan

The project’s total budget is 830 000 SEK and the project runs for four months – between October 2024 and March 2025.
